The founders
Who built AXEN
Chase Lance
Co-Founder
Chase got into real estate after graduating from Ole Miss. That led to becoming a branch manager at NEXA Lending. In June 2025 he launched AXEN, built for agents, on one idea: you do the work, so you keep the money.
“I didn't build AXEN to take a piece of your business. I built it to grow it.”
Mike Kortas
Co-Founder
Mike started in mortgages in 1998 and worked his way up: loan officer, team lead, branch manager, regional manager, vice president. In 2017 he founded NEXA to be the best place for independent loan officers to work. That is why AXEN agents have a loan team under the same roof. He lives in Arizona with his wife and three kids.
Mike holds an ownership interest in NEXA. Your client never has to use it, and you are never paid for sending them.

Your money
No split. Ever. You keep 100% of your commission.
Keep 100% of your commissionNo split. Not on deal one, not on deal fifty.
There is no split at AXEN. Your commission is yours.
You pay a flat file fee per closing instead, and it stops at a yearly cap.
Your cap year starts on your anniversary with AXEN, not January 1.
Pro plan: $500 a file, $6,000 cap12 full-fee closings and you are done paying file fees for the year.
$500 per closing until you have paid $6,000 in a cap year.
After the cap: $0 in file fees for the rest of your year.
Small sales cost less: under $2,500 of commission, the file fee is 10% of it, plus the $295 admin fee. $2,000 commission = $200 file fee.
Elite plan: $1,000 a file, $12,000 capFor producers who want first in line.
$1,000 per closing until $12,000 in a cap year.
First in line for AXEN company leads and event seats.
Enrolls you in AXEN University right away.
Makes you eligible for Reverse Sign-On (below).
Reverse Sign-OnAlready paid into your old broker's cap this year? We credit it.
Elite only. Bring proof of what you paid your last brokerage toward its cap this year.
That amount comes off your $12,000 AXEN cap. Paid $12,000 or more? Your file fees are $0 until your anniversary.
It comes with a commitment period. Leave early and the waived fees are paid back — read it in the agreement before you sign.
Leases and referrals: 10%, max $500 ($1,000 on Elite)It counts toward your cap. Plus a $50 admin fee that goes to your TC.
Leases, rentals and referrals cost 10% of the gross commission.
It never goes over $500 a deal on Pro, or $1,000 on Elite. $4,000 gross? You pay $400.
It counts toward your cap. Once you cap, it is $0.
Plus a $50 admin fee each time. It pays your TC.
$295 admin fee per sale — and what it pays forIt pays your coordinator and your state broker. Many agents pass it to the client.
$295 on each sale, before and after your cap.
It pays for your coordinator and for your state broker to check your file.
Many agents list it as a broker fee paid by the client at closing.
Platform fee: your choice of three ways$50 a month, $500 a year, or $600 taken from your first closing.
Covers your tech, the Deal Desk, contract management, AXEN email and CRM.
Pay $50 a month, $500 for the year, or $600 out of your first closing — $0 out of pocket.
Where AXEN pays your MLS or board dues for you, that cost is passed through at cost on top.
Nothing is charged until your license is active with AXEN.
First closing under $2,500 of commission? On the $600 option AXEN only takes $50 for each month you have been here. The rest comes out of your next closing.
Get paid fastSales: paid at closing by title, or by AXEN as soon as funds land. Leases and referrals: paid by AXEN once the money arrives.
Your CDA is due 5 days before closing. The portal builds it.
Want your pay to your LLC? Send a W-9 in the entity's name.
Need an advance on a pending commission? AXEN works with an outside funder and signs the authorization. AXEN does not lend.

An agent you brought in closes a deal
When an agent you brought in closes a deal that pays a file fee, each of the 5 levels above them gets a flat amount.
$100 per level when the closing agent is on Pro. $200 when they are on Elite.
Referrals and leases pay too: the whole 10% fee is split across the 5 levels. A $4,000 referral pays $80 a level.
Small deals work the same way. Under $2,500 of commission, the whole 10% fee is split across the 5 levels. A $2,000 sale pays $40 a level.
It pays only while a file fee is charged on that closing, so it stops once that agent caps for the year. It keeps going while that agent stays active with AXEN. Not a promise of income.
No 'recruit X agents first' gates. Level 1 pays from their first fee-paying deal.
If you leave AXEN, your seat stays with AXEN. Full rules are on the full-story page.
This is how rev share is structured. It is not a promise of any amount.

How to switch
A checklist, not a leap.
1
Talk or sign
Book a Why AXEN call, or sign in 10–20 minutes online. Pick Pro or Elite and how to pay the platform fee.
2
Your license moves
Follow the transfer checklist for your state: license, board and MLS. Your state broker is there if something sticks.
3
Pendings and listings
Pending deals belong to your old broker until they release them. Most do. On any pending they release, AXEN takes $0: no file fee, no split. Clients already under a signed agreement stay with your old broker until it ends. Your own contacts stay yours.
4
Set up in week one
AXEN email, Lofty CRM and your IDX site, SkySlope, the portal and the app. Onboarding calls 1–4 in your first week.
5
First file
Upload the contract. The Deal Desk assigns your coordinator. Your CDA is built in the portal.
6
First check
Sales pay at closing. Your earnings statement and cap ring update live.
Top questions
The ones every agent asks first.
Is there a contract?
There is no long-term contract to stay. You can leave. Some add-ons (Reverse Sign-On, FSBO.com, Senior Planning) have their own terms — read them before you opt in.
What does it cost to start?
$0 to sign. Nothing is charged until your license is active with AXEN, and you can take the platform fee out of your first closing.
What happens to my pending deals?
They belong to your old broker until they release them. Most do. On anything they release, AXEN takes $0 — not a split, not a fee. Clients already under a signed agreement stay with your old broker until it ends. Your own contacts stay yours.
Do I keep my own leads?
Yes. 100%. AXEN company leads are opt-in and only those carry the 25% fee.
Can I bring my team?
Yes. Team leads set their own splits. There is a team plan with its own AXEN cap, and group transitions are the normal case here. Everything a team lead asks is on axenportal.com/teams
Is the coordinator really included?
Yes, on every sale. It is paid out of the $295 admin fee, which many agents pass to the client.
