AXEN vs every major brokerage

Your split isn't a percentage. It's a salary you pay someone else.

AXEN takes no split. A flat $500 file fee per closing to a $6,000 cap, plus a $295 admin fee per sale and $50 a month. See what every major brokerage takes from the same year.

AXEN puts a Deal Desk coordinator on every closing, paid out of the $295 admin fee already counted here. Everywhere else you hire and pay your own, so it belongs in the comparison.

Everyone else stops there. This is the part they can't match.

Every brokerage here charges you. AXEN also pays you on the agents you bring: five levels, no quota to unlock a level.

Run your own numbersAgents you'd bring, their deals and their plan.

At the published rate, per year

$55,800

if those 3 each brought two more, five levels deep — 93 agents. That is a big if, and it is the assumption doing the work here, not our rate.

How we count itFive levels, two each, 12 paid closings max.
  • Assumes each agent brings two more, five levels deep.
  • The whole file fee is paid back out as rev share.
  • Rev share is paid only on closings that carry a file fee, so it stops when that agent caps. That is why it counts at most 12 paid closings per agent per year, the same engine the portal pays from.
  • Sales under $2,500 of commission pay 1/5 of their 10% fee per level.
  • Leases, rentals and referrals split their 10% fee evenly across the 5 levels.
  • An illustration of the published rate, not a forecast and not a promise of income: it depends entirely on who you bring and whether they sell.

How we priced itEach brokerage's published plan, on your numbers.

Each brokerage's published plan applied to 12 closings averaging $10,000 ($120,000 in commission). Splits, caps and fees vary by office, by market center and by what you negotiated. AXEN Pro is a $500 file fee per closing to a $6,000 cap (Elite: $1,000 to $12,000), reset on your AXEN anniversary; under $2,500 of commission the file fee is 10% of the commission and still counts toward the cap; plus a $295 admin fee on every sale, even after cap, that many agents pass to the client; rentals and referrals are 10% of the commission, max $500 ($1,000 on Elite), counted toward the cap, plus a $50 admin fee; and a $50 a month platform fee ($500 if paid yearly; the calculator uses $600). Excludes E&O, MLS and association dues, which you pay anywhere. Rev share figures illustrate the published rate. They are not a forecast or a promise of income, and what you earn depends entirely on who you bring and whether they sell.

06Before you decide

A cheaper fee isn't a lower cost.

Discount shops charge less because nothing comes with it.

“My broker will just match it.”They might. Ask them to put it in writing.
  • That better split was available the whole time. They didn't offer it until you had one foot out the door.
  • They can take it back. A negotiated split gets reviewed when your production dips.
  • Ask them to put it in writing with no minimum production and see what happens.
“I'm close to my cap. I'll move in January.”That last stretch is the most expensive money you'll pay all year.
  • And it resets in twelve months anyway.
  • What you've already paid toward it can be credited against your AXEN Elite cap through the reverse sign-on credit.
  • It's a signed addendum with real conditions, including a payback clause. Ask to read it before you count on it.
Nothing here costs you less than AXENOnce you count the $6,000 a year you'd pay a coordinator anywhere else.

Nothing on this list costs you less than AXEN once the transaction coordinator is counted — and it has to be counted, because you pay it either way. At $500 a file across 12 closings that is $6,000 you pay on top everywhere else. At AXEN it comes out of the $295 admin fee already in AXEN's total. The discount shops advertise a smaller fee; what they are not mentioning is everything the fee doesn't cover.

Where AXEN genuinely isn't the answerA year with almost no sales, at a broker that charges no monthly fee.
  • A split takes nothing when you sell nothing; AXEN's platform fee ($50 a month, or $500 paid yearly) applies either way.
  • We'd rather you knew that now than found out in March.
Price what's missingCRM, coordinator, contract management.
  • Every brokerage above the line on fees alone is a discount model. The fee is lower because nothing comes with it.
  • Price a CRM, transaction coordination on each file, and contract management the way you'd actually have to buy them, and the gap closes and then reverses.
  • That is before you count revenue share, which discount brokerages don't pay at all.
